Mrs. Hoesler(sic) of Town New Holstein Summoned      Friday.  Mrs. Theresa Hoesler, nee Raeder, 70, passed away at the home  of her son, Edward, two and one half miles west of Kiel, town of New Holstein, Friday morning at 1 o’clock following a stroke.  Mrs. Hoesler was born on July 23, 1864, on the  Raeder homestead, and she was married to George Hoesler on November 14, 1889. 
Her husband preceded her in death on February 10, 1931, and one son,    Jacob, died on April 2, 1919.  Survivors are one son, Edward, on the 
homestead, nine grandchildren, 
  • one brother, Anton Raeder, 
and three sisters, 
  • Mrs. Joseph Dickrell,
  • Mrs. Elizabeth Mersberger, both of Elkhart Lake 
  • and Mrs. Paul Leoanrd of Heddinger, N.D.  
The funeral will be held Monday morning at 9 o’clock at the family residence, town of New Holstein, and at 9:30 o’clock at St. Ann’s Catholic church.  The Rev. H.J. Schmitt will officiate and interment will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.

George Hoefler is Called to Rest.  St. Ann. –
George Hoefler died suddenly at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, although he had been ailing for some time.  Mr. Hoefler is survived by his wife; one son, George, and several grandchildren.  The funeral will be held at 10 o’clock Saturday morning at St. Ann’s church.

Last Rites for Calumet County Resident Held.  St. Anna. –
Funeral rites for George Hoefler were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann’s church. Rev. J. Schmitt officiated and interment was in the church cemetery. The St. Joseph’s society and the Holy Name society marched in the church and the cemetery in a body. The funeral was largely attended. Mr. Hoefler was born in Calumet county and lived there his entire life. He was married Miss Theresa Roeder on Nov. 14, 1889.  The couple had twosons one of whom died several years ago.  Mr. Hoefler is survived by 
his wife, one son, Edward, eight grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. MaryJohnson.

Pvt. Hoefler Dies on Pacific Island.  St. Anna. –The little community of St. Anna was shocked this week to learn of the death of Pvt. Edmund Hoefler.  Pvt. Hoefler died on May 29 on the island of Mindanao in the Pacific area.  He had been in service for just six months and was home on furlough as recently as last April. 
Pvt. Hoefler is the first Gold Star hero of St. Ann’s congregation to die in either World War I or World War II.

Funeral services for Pvt. Edmund Hoefler, war hero and son of Edward Hoefler, of route 1, New Holstein, will be held at the Meiselwitz Funeral home in Kiel at 9:15 a.m. Saturday and at St. Ann’s church at 10 a.m., the Rev. C.P. Kern officiating. 
Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The body will arrive in Kiel under military escort Friday evening, and a vigil will be held at the funeral home after the body arrives.

Reburial services for Pvt. Edmund Hoefler, son of Edward Hoefler, route 1, New Holstein, were held Saturday morning at St. Ann’s Catholic church at St. Ann.The Rev. Clemens Kern read the requiem mass and also officiated at the grave. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church. Pvt. Hoefler died May 29, 1945, at Davaa Mindmaro.  He was 20 years old at the time of his death.  Pallbearers were members of the Kiel American Legion.  The firing squad consisted of members 
of the New Holstein American Legion.  The Legionnaires and service men at St. Ann attended the funeral services in a body.  The Holy Name society of St. Ann’s parish also attended the services, and with the Legionnaires escorted the remains to the church and the cemetery.  The son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hoefler. He attended St.Ann’s parochial school and spent his entire lifetime prior to induction workingon the farm for his father.  He was inducted into the army Nov. 27, 1944. He
received his training at Camp Robinson, Ark.  He fought in the Third Battalion,19th Infantry.  He received a furlough March 19, 1945, and left for overseas April 2, 1945.  He was lost in action May 29, 1945.  Survivors are his father,five brothers, and four sisters.
His mother preceded him in death. ........

Son of the late Edward and Anna Hartmann Hoefler. On Sept. 23, 1944, he married Eunice BUCHOLZ in New Holstein. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Edmund Hoefler; two sisters, Evelyn Koenig and Mary Grube. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Eunice; one son, Joseph II (Kim) and their children, Kelly, Joseph III and Krystal; four daughters, Jo Ann (Bill) Klich and their daughters, Tonia and Gayle; Janet (Walter) Miller  and their children, Erin, Ross and Evan; Renee Doherty; Patricia (David) and their children, Tracy, Robin, Ashley and Travis. He is also survived by one great-grandson, Reed Miller; four brothers, Herbert (Stella) Hoefler of Kiel, George (Mildred) Hoefler of rural New Holstein, Lester (Fern) Hoefler of Green Bay, and Edward (Margene) Hoefler of rural New Holstein; two sisters, Veronica (Ellsworth) Buchmann of Kiel and Lucille Koenig of Newton.  Burial will be Wednesday morning at Eaton Cemetery in the Town of Eaton
