Roseann M. Twohig, 88, of 204 S. Elm St., Campbellsport, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on Feb. 4, 1917, in the Town of Osceola, the daughter of William and Rose Rach O'Brien.
She married David J. Twohig at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Armstrong on Aug. 26, 1939.
Mrs. Twohig was a graduate of St. Mary Springs Academy and Oshkosh Teachers College. She taught at rural schools in the towns of Empire, Osceola and Campbellsport. She and her husband owned and operated Twohig Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Campbellsport since 1949.
Mrs. Twohig was a member of Saint Matthew's Catholic Church in Campbellsport and its Christian Women, Saint Lawrence Parents' Guild, Campbellsport Women's Club and Homemakers. She was instrumental in the formation of St. Matthew's Catholic Youth Organization of which she was the director for over thirty years. She was a Brownie leader for over twenty years and received the Marion award for Girl Scouting in 1978. She found a special joy in entertaining and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her nine children, Patrick (Gloria), Margaret Garvey (Curt) Kissinger, Robert (Mary), and Rose (John) Brandl, all of Campbellsport, James (Karen) of Albuquerque, N.M., Mary (George Harrison) Twohig of Louisville, Ky., Jane (Joe) Wimberger of Madison, David (Kathy) of Fond du Lac, and Thomas (Ragnhilde "Rundi" Myklebust) of Menomonie; thirty-four grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy O'Brien of Armstrong; brothers-in-law, George Twohig of Kiel, Leo and Robert Twohig of St. Cloud; sisters-in-law, Patricia Twohig of St. Cloud and June Twohig of Fond du Lac; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, David in 1994; a son-in-law, Patrick Garvey; two grandsons, Daniel and Phillip; two brothers, George and John; and two sisters, Mary Flaherty and Genevieve Merjay.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at St Matthew's Catholic Church in Campbellsport. The Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial will follow at the parish cemetery.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at the Twohig Funeral Home in Campbellsport and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. A vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Matthew's School or St. Matthew's Church restoration project.
Mother had a lifelong devotion to the Blessed Virgin and the rosary. Her many prayers were felt by her family and the entire community. We know that her memory will continue to bless and influence all who knew her.
