DR GEORGE JOSEPH TWOHIG

Dr. George, age 98, of Kiel, passed away Tuesday morning at Villa Loretto Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for two years. He was the sone of George R & Mollie (Browne) Twohig. He graduated from Fond du Lac High School and received his medical degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee, in 1941. A proud veteran of the Army of the united sTates, he served his country as a Captain during WWII in the Pacific Theatre, receiving a Purple Heart. On October 27, 1941, he married Catherine A. Grau at St. Mary's Church in Mayville, where he also began his medical pratice. Catherine preceded him in death on October 8, 1988. He was a Charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicans and practiced medicine in Kiel from 1946 until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Saints Pere and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Survivors include eight children Richard (Luann), Kiel, Edward (Mary),Oakland, NE, Patricia, Kiel, George W. (Jane), Elkhart Lake, WI, Dr. William (Jean), Weyauwega, WI, Joseph (Robin), Eureka, CA, David (Judy), Tempe, AZ and Laura (Tom) Nelson, West Bend, WI, twenty-three grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers and one sister. He was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and an infant son. A funeral mass was held at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, Eden, with Rev. Joseph Juknialis officiating.
