Leo Twohig


Leo H. Twohig, 88, of rural Campbellsport (Armstrong), passed away Sunday November 28, 2010 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan.

He was born on the family farm Armstrong in the Town of Osceola on March 6th, 1922, the son of the late George R. and Mollie Browne He graduated from Fond du Lac High School and farmed on the family farm. Later he owned his own farm with Dan and Jane Twohig in the Town of Forest.

Leo was a man of great knowledge on any subject he was asked about. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Parish, Eden, and previously a member of Our Lady of Angels Parish, Armstrong where he had been a Trustee and a member of the Cemetery Association for 36 years. Leo was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Campbellsport School Board for 19 years. He also volunteered as an Armstrong 4-H leader and took great pride with kids showing cattle at the fairs. He was a member of the Holstein Association and Farm Bureau. Leo enjoyed traveling and photography which was a lifetime hobby. His favorite sports were golf and skiing and he visited Ireland and frequently enjoyed ski trips to Colorado with family and friends. He was a past President of Greenbush Ski Club and with his brothers David and George, spent many years building and developing the "Twohig Ski Hill" near Campbellsport.

Even though Leo never married, he was like a father and grandfather to Dan, Jane, Craig, Julie, Jason and Tim Twohig whom he loved dearly. Leo loved to go out to eat at Schreiners with his grandkids.

Survivors include his sister, Patricia Twohig and his brother, Robert E. Twohig both of Armstrong; his sister-in-law, June Twohig of Fond du Lac; Dan and Jane Twohig of Armstrong and their children, Craig, Julie, Jason and Tim; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Leo was preceded in death by his sisters, Laura Mae Twohig, Nora Niederehe, Elizabeth "Betty" Twohig and Margaret Fitzgerald; and his brothers, Dr. George Twohig, David Twohig and John Twohig.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday Dec. 2nd at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church W1562 Hwy B, Eden, Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate and burial follow in our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Armstrong.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 A.M. to 11:45 at the church.

•Services: Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon on Thursday, Dec. 2, at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 County Trunk B, Eden. The Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate and burial will follow in our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Armstrong.
